India-Russia ties closer :
A former Pentagon official has found an unexpected way to credit US President Donald Trump for boosting India-Russia ties – a relationship that was forged in a strategic partnership in 2000 and strengthened further in 2010. Speaking to ANI on Saturday, former Pentagon official Michael Rubin said that President Trump deserves the Nobel Prize for bringing India and Russia together.

“From Russia’s perspective, this visit is extremely positive, and India has accorded Vladimir Putin a level of respect that he can rarely find anywhere else in the world. I would actually argue that Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Prize for the way he brought India and Russia together,” he said.
He further added, “How many of these agreements (MoUs) are actually going to come to fruition? How many of the decisions that are being taken are motivated by a true mix of interests? How many are motivated by hatred for the way President Donald Trump has treated Prime Minister Modi and India more broadly?…”

The Swedish Committee had snatched away Trump’s dream of winning the Nobel Peace Prize by announcing another winner but it seems that he is preparing again and this time for 2026. Many leaders had already nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize, including several leaders from Israel.
During the interview, when asked how Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India was being viewed in US policy circles, Rubin said it was being viewed in two different ways.
“One is in the way of Donald Trump, who is being seen from the perspective of ‘I told you so’ that this India’s acceptance of Russia is proving exactly what Donald Trump wants. Because Donald Trump will not admit that he himself is guilty. According to recent polls, if you are one of the 65% of Americans who disapprove of Donald Trump, then what we are seeing now is the result of Donald Trump‘s gross incompetence.”
